This is fantastic. I can only encourage your burgeoning interest in things Lovecraftian. I have yet to read The Whisperer in the Darkness, and these quoted passage, plus the background on the Mi-go, certainly encourages me to do so.

The Whisperer in Darkness can and has been criticized for being a bit too obvious at some points (i.e., narrator never senses obvious trap), but, in my reading, it's still really complex and hints at a lot of fascinating and unexplored things.
