Well, it so happens I was forced to take a class on job interviews. I can give you a few tips that might help. One of the most common questions is the old 'what is your greatest weakness?' question. We were told to find some way to answer this honestly without actually making the weakness negative. "I'm an alcoholic" is probably a bad idea, as is "I can't stop myself from doing ALL THE WORK EVERYWHERE." Balance is key.

You will probably also be asked what your best qualities are. Prepare a few in advance so you don't have to 'umm' too much. Things like 'independent working' or 'detailed' might suit for a job like this.

They also told us to ask for their business card at the end (that can be your question). It shows some interest in the place but you can use it to write a follow up letter thanking them for the interview. Protips! Now, if only I could find the handouts they made us take...

I would suggest 10-15 ties.

This is the part that terrifies me. I have no idea if I even have good qualities. And which one of my bad qualities will sound least terrible?! D:

Your skills as a writer are examples of some of your good qualities! Think about the process you use when you write, how you work well without having to rely on other people to tell you what to do, but that you're capable of taking and using good critique, you're methodical (you plan your books carefully), and you follow through with finishing your project!

My methods are as varied as they are impractical. XD
Thanks for the ideas, I'll see what I can come up with. :)

I think it would be safe to ask if there is a chance of this developing into a full-time position, or at least a chance of there being more hours to take on.

I'll see how much courage I have at the time. If they give me the job I can always ask about this later, can't I??

INTERVIEW TIPS ( ... )

I did look at the company's website, but there's not a lot there. They seem pretty generic as solicitors go, so I've no idea what to latch on to. I guess that gives me the chance to ask them about the company... But what to ask that seems relevant to the position?

No one wants to hire a dick,

... I'm screwed... D:

Hm. You could ask if they have a lot of incoming/outgoing mail, I suppose.

Pshaw, don't talk such nonsense!

Presumably they'll say how much mail they get on average as part of the 'this is what the job will entail' brief??

Do I ever say anything other than nonsense??

Good luck with the interview! You don't want my advice, unless your goal is to be an unemployed 32-year-old rabble rouser one day!

If I don't get the job, that may be my fate anyway. :(

Well, the world does need rabble rousers...

Just so you know, I read the whole interview bit in Charlie Brooker's voice.

The only interviews I've ever had (Cam & Ox) were so horrible that I've apparently blocked them forever from my mind, so I can't be of much help, unfortunately. :( But I am pretty sure you should only wear one tie. GOOD LUCK.

Hah! I'm honoured. I guess. XD
Was thinking the other day that I want Charlie Brooker to be in Doctor Who! Or maybe to write an episode!!

I have vague memories of 6th Form classes where they told us not to lean back on the chairs or smoke massive cigars. Other helpful hints like that.

I am seriously having the dilemma of 'paisley tie, or normal tie!?!' in my head. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME?! D:

He really should be in Doctor Who, he'd be fantastic. :)

I remember I was told not to hide behind my hair. That seems like a good idea!

NORMAL TIE. Wait, what is a normal tie?

I think he'd write a great episode! I'd also like to see him playing some really miserable side character. Or being a really depressed Davros. XD

But hiding behind hair is a great defence mechanism! What if they attack!?!?

Lol, a plain coloured tie, as opposed to the swirly, crazy seventh doctor style tie. XD
