this really was a rough year for new films. i'm not sure anything blew me away but there were several i liked quite a bit. i'm not going to bother even trying to come up with a top ten list this time around though.
yes i think this is true my mom wants to know when you're going to visit again. i think she considers you on par with me and my brother in terms of people she most wants to see.
since i have the stats handy, here is where i saw projected movies:
film forum - 16 brooklyn academy of music - 11 regal court street - 10 museum of modern art - 8 anthology film archives - 6 loews lincoln square - 6 ifc center - 3 regal union square - 3 cinema village - 2 clearview chelsea - 2 a kansas city multiplex - 2 landmark sunshine - 2 angelika - 1 city cinemas village east - 1 landmark in chicago - 1 loews 19th street - 1 loews village 7 - 1 showplace 14 (rockford) - 1 tribeca film festival - 1
Yes, not a great year for films. The Queen was fantastic, and Pirates of the Carribean 2 was a fun romp. but othe than that none of the, say 8-9 films I Saw stick in my mind, besides the awful dragon flick. DVD was definitely better laster year.
i liked the queen a lot, but came out of the new pirates movie incredibly depressed and kind of sick about Our Culture and that's just not something that happens very often
