HAIKU OF EARLY AUTUMN
in three stanzas

This morning, dawn came
Slowly, almost not at all.
We thought it might not -

"Surprise!" cried dawn; but
the trees they are sleeping now
Goodnight, til next spring

The celts say earth is
Dead these cold months; I find it
very much alive.
