What form of government did everyone live under, before coming here? And were they at war, or have they been, recently?

... Even if it wasn't openly declared as a "war". You could include any sort of military conflict under that topic, I guess.

I'm trying to figure out how many people here have experience with war, and if it's as prevalent as I fear it is.

... I see. When you say "military state", does that mean that it's being occupied by the military, or that the military is the government?

It's part of my job to know about wars going on all over the world.

I know that. But hopefully by collecting data on the wars in other worlds, I can use it to help my world.

I lived under what I'd just call an ordinary democracy, I suppose.

My country - Japan - hasn't been at war recently. Well, we're technically at war with Russia, but... only as a technicality. I suppose there is something going on which one could consider to be a sort of war, though a very unusual one.

Japan? That's a Union country... though I don't know if "World Economic Union" means anything to you.

Technicality? How so?

No, "World Economic Union" means nothing to me.

We have an unresolved territorial dispute going on with them, which stretches all the way back to World War II, because of which we never signed a peace treaty. There's no actual fighting, though.
