I just got my pics from the ECW show me, Ca, Frankie Dee, Erik, Tina, Evan, Mike W, Rocco, this fella Anthony & his girlfriend went to a week ago back from cvs earlier today (cvs disposable digital camera since I am deprived of most technological advances), so here ya go, should you be interested.
The FBI, Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke faced a couple nobodies in the openning match. Here's Mamaluke hitting a Tornado DDT on nobody #1.
match was a good openner. Everyone got behind the FBI & I think having them go against a couple OVW jackasses with barely any talent was in and of itself a great way to garner heel heat for 'em while facing ECW vets like Guido & Mamaluke. FBI won, but I forget how.
after that, Danny Doring had a match with Balls Mahony. Doring came out & talked up ECW a bunch & then asked if the old school ECW fans liked the new ECW. We obviously gave him a negatory response on that one & he pulled the switcheroo & said he loved the new ECW & Vince. I hope that gets heel heat everywhere; not just the old ECW haunts. All I got of the match was a shot of Doring playing the chicken heel staying outside at the start of the match.
An alright affair, but without the ability to grab a chair & start crushin' skulls, Mahony really just relegated to his punch combo that gets the fans chanting "BALLS! BALLS! BAaAaALLS!!" like 3 or 4 times. Balls won with the Nutcracker Suite, I believe.
Next was Kevin "even Mordecai was a better gimmick" Thorn & His Slut vs Stevie Richards. As much as I like Richards, Ca & I didn't bother to watch as we had some new T-shirts to put on. A great moment I did catch was Stevie putting up the crossed fingers to keep Thorn at bay. No pics for it & I'm sure Count Silly Tie won with his Crucifix Powerbomb (which, as a vampire, he shouldn't be able to execute without bursting into flames).
After that, they had a bikini contest between Kelly (boo for vapidity) & Francine (yay for being true ECW). The fans all sided w/ Francine based on her not being an annoying, time-wasting vapid idiot & for being an ECW original. Best part was the chant of "Joey's hit that!" & Joey acting flustered & waving his arms as a negative response. Of course, this was all a lead in for Mike Knox to come in to stop all this nonsense (boo) & for Sandman to attack him (yay).
At this time Test came out to help his fellow untalented oaf. & then Tommy Dreamer came to save the day. Hurrah! Dreamer gave a heartfelt speech about how as a kid he was in the 3rd row of the same building to see his 1st wrestling show with his father who had recently passed away. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that his speech touched me.
I only have this & a picture of the good guys doing stereo 10 punches in the corners (but that one came out all screwy like) cuz I was so int othe match I couldn't sit there takin' some silly pictures. I had some raucus chants & cheers to partake in & some excellent hardcore wrestling to marvel at. Who could blame me? After Sandman drew Knox away, Dreamer started dancin' about wit hKelly as he did on TV a few weeks previous & then was about to Piledrive her when Paul E came out. At this point I don't remember what exactly happened; all I recall is that Beulah (Dreamer's wife) came out to help Tommy & Paul E. ended up getting the Dreamer DDT, but Test hit Dreamer with his TKO (the Fireman's lift into a Stunner thing) & also kncoked Beulah down, I think. He won with that. To the tune of a standing ovation, Dreamer carried Beulah to the back through the crowd (I could swear I took a picture of them together in the ring, but you know CVS; always gotta skimp you of one or 2 photos). Dreamer = hero #2 behind Mick Foley, but # 1 hometown hero.
Intermission necessary for winding down after that crowd pleaser.
After the break, we got the Frenchy faggy foofoo guy from WWE, What's his Le Facé (I really can't remember his name at the moment, but I think it's funnier this way as opposed to racking my brain for a millisecond). He got some heel heat by acting French & then CM Punk came out to a big reaction. The match wasn't all too exciting; it was really more of a 'sit down & stare' match. That's really the best I could describe it.
CM with the Suicide Dive.
CM hitting a top rope Lariat. (did you think there'd be a hilight pic of Frenchy?)
CM won with his Uranage into a Keylock combo.
Next up was RVD vs Kurt Angle.
Was a great match, but got cut short cuz Angle apparently hurt his knee attempting the Run-up-the-ropes Overhead Belly to Belly. RVD covered it so I didn't notice until Ca pointed out Angle was holding his knee after the match despite Van Dam never working the leg. Which also explains why he was taken out of the ladder match the following Tues.
This Frog Splash missed, but...
this one hit & ended the match. In case our theory on the leg injury was in doubt, Angle was helped to the back by a couple refs afterwards.
The main event: Sabu vs Big Show. Pretty good way to end the night, with Sabu hittin' all his usual big spots & tossing chairs straight into the skull of the Show. At one point, Sabu set up for the Triple Jump Moonsault, but Show stopped him & then stomped the chair Sabu was going to use to hop to the top rope completely denting the seat inward. That got a laugh out of us. We weren't to be disappointed as Sabu did in fact hit the Triple Jump later on.
Sabu also hit the Arabian Skullcrusher off the top rope.
However, neither were enough to put away the Big Show who Chokeslammed Sabu through a table (whose legs gave out & had to be propped up on the ropes after Show took a DDT)
The crowd through all kindsa stuff in the ring in opposition to Show's victory. A pretty cool moment came from Show catching one of the cups as it was thrown at him. I don't care how WWE he is, I like the Big Show. But, I like Sabu better, which is why given the opportunity, I got a closer shot of him & not Show:
All in all, a good show & a good night. Afterwards we went to Friendly's where I discovered I hate Friendly's... & Callum.
