Is breaking hearts a self-destructive process?

I'm feeling particularly estranged from life. I am in one of those mindsets whereby friends are decorations, and relationships are built on deep fears. I can't speak for everyone, but I think some people shouldn't rush into exclusive relationships, not until they've tried everything solo life has to offer.

Your feeling about forming an exclusive relationship is very accurate for your age, however over the time you come to the point that you feel there will be no second thoughts and boredom of settling down with someone who is worth it. In other words, you compromise with little or no regrets. But you are way too young and still too perfectionist for such a situation yet. Hell, I think I'm not even there yet after 30 years, but I'm sure I'll get there eventually, I feel it in myself.
