After I finished turning in my last papers and taking my last final, David and I headed out to San Francisco for the combined G8/Biotech 2004 protests. Supposedly, a temporary autonomous zone had been established in Golden Gate Park, so we arrived at around midnight. It was a wonderful evening with all the dorm kids, except the dream I had about being chased by a squid with needles all over its tentacles.

Yesterday, I took a hike with some friends. We crossed Empire Grade from the west entrance of campus, and soon found ourselves in a forest. We followed a beaten, eroded trail down a steep hill and arrived at a stream trickling down from the Santa Cruz hills.
