Every word of this story is 100% true. You can't make up an inspirational message directly preceded by driving a strange old man to an abandoned swimming pool lot and awaiting your death.
Also, I didn't mention at all in this that I prayed for the first time in, like, forever. Real prayer, not like, "OMG I am scared" prayer. I did it while washing the poo-water-pots.
I'm not really spiritual or religious (I told God that) in fact I'm rather sacrilegious and it's not very like me to pray. Earlier today I was singing along to a Rammstein song about child abuse, etc.
....anyway it's so very unlike me, and to be honest the circumstances weren't that traumatizing. But while waiting for the plumber I had a nice convo with God and stuff and basically I just said "Um, well, thank you for this experience - you can only teach us things, and what I learned today was that I have strength and optimism, so thank you for teaching me that."
