I've been sitting here for hours, listening to Christopher Hitchens on a good number of subjects. He's so brilliant. I love this guy so much. I could listen to him all day and all night. His mind is sharp, and his judgments are direct and nuanced in such a way that he is never an advocate for a "side" but a truly individualized view. I love that. ( Read more... )

I went from my personal label of "agnostic" to "atheistic" because I am not willing to say that there is no God, but I also do not believe that there is one. To me, that is closer to atheism (no God) than to agnosticism (idk).

I do not see any evidence of God, either in science (what little of it I can grasp) or in philosophy. I sure as hell don't see how one can be a theist. I don't rely on my personal "spirituality" because that kind of fucked me over a few years ago.

I forgot my point. I enjoy Hitchens a lot. And I do tend to agree with his overall thesis that "religion spoils everything", though, to be honest, I don't think things would be much better if we were all non-religious.

For every religious person "spoiling everything" there are 10 more religious people not doing so.

I would call you an atheist as well. I think most atheists, when really put to task, would say that they're not willing to absolutely say that no god-thing exists at all.
