Selwyn, being just about 8 months old, now weighs approximately 12 lbs. Yes. Twelve pounds. This is what he looks like immediately after about an hour of crazy-kitten antics, just after collapsing to wind down for a long nap. ( Crazypants )
He is... massive. And, according to my mother, ahead of where their giant beast was at his age. Their cat is overweight, but I think his ideal weight is somewhere around 16 lbs.
He is gorgeous. I love the goofy kitty antics, romping and rollling along. He's going to be a massive cat - what breed?
Our biggest cat is 20lbs - the vet says he should only be 16lbs or so. Gizmo has always been a stocky cat w/ a big head - he's only been obese the last couple of years.
Selwyn is a feral colony mutt with some Siamese somewhere on both sides of his lineage, hence his resembling a blue point Siamese. The Siamese gene is recessive, so it can randomly pop up in mixed litters if both the mother and father have Siamese in their genes.
There's still some Crazy Kitty Eyes going on. Adolescent animals can be overpowering in their energy.
He is adorable, though. Love the big paws.
And if it helps any, a friend of mine has a cat that's 35 lbs--not because he's grossly fat (he's not) but because he's a breed that tends to grow EXTREMELY large. (And her "small" cat, who's a white-and-patches mixed-breed feral, is about 16 lbs, and also is not grossly fat. Seems she just picks big kitties.) So while Selwyn is pretty big, he's not likely to be close to a truly outlandish outlier. :)
He's got the craziest crazy eyes. I think the fact he gets slightly cross-eyed makes them look even crazier. I feel like we need a yard with an enclosure for him to go nuts in. Like this apartment is not nearly big enough for him... At least the dogs in the neighborhood have a park... I wish you could do the same for cats of unlimited energy.
I like big cats. It's just kind of overwhelming when they have such energy.

Gizmo in 2008 when he was 4, he has much more gut than in this photo - I put a ruler by him to show his size.
