We get Anna's hummingbirds year-round, I haven't seen any summer species yet, but a friend of mine took a picture of an Allen's in Santa Cruz (an hour south of me) last week.
I had one that spent the winter at my house! It lived in my front yard and I had to keep the feeder thawed for it, involving daily microwaving and refilling. It's still around, of course. And now there are at least two more battling for access to the feeder.
I live in the PNW near Seattle. Maybe I should post my "winter hummingbird" story for the community, huh? I've got a great picture of him the day we had 8 inches of snow (very unusual for Seattle).
