What kind of feeder do you have? Some of them are less apt to get insects in them than others.

I just have the cheap plastic walmart variety. When I got it I wasn't even sure I would get hummingbirds. Perhaps I should invest in a better feeder?

I have 12 of the 1 quart, Wal-Mart variety, with very little insect activity. I also have an orange oriole feeder, that's where the bees go. They also make yellowish orange wasp traps that work pretty well also. I have no solution for the ants besides what is listed above.

Yep, get a saucer type feeder. No drips, no bees, even comes with an ant moat. I wouldn't mind feeding honey bees, but I flat out refuse to buy anything else now that I've gotten rid of my yellow jacket problem.
