I'm fairly certain such disclaimers are near enough meaningless in the eyes of UK law.

(It is odd how one can get sacked for telling the truth about an organisation but remain an employee for lying through one's teeth about the organisation.)

I think employment tribunals tend to sack staff for bringing the organisation into disrepute. If the name of our clients and the name of the organisation to which I belong are obscured then there are less grounds for dismissal. The main companies that tend to sack employees for having blogs are commercial organisations who are upset at having their brand name smeared on the internet. Since everyone knows that local goverment is piss-poor there is nothing to bring into dis-repute anyway.

Well, I'd agree with mattt about thinking the disclaimers are fairly meaningless in the eyes of the law, although it is rather amusing.

What you might be more at risk for is talking about personal details about people who you help at work, especially names and so forth. I'd imagine that you'll have had to sign something saying you won't tell people outside work personal or medical details of your clients, for lack of a better word. I mean, I had to sign something like that, and I'm just a cleaner, although it is at a medical facility. I'd make the first work entry you did friends only for safety's sake.

Assuming you did sign something like that.

I've been FLocking all my posts about work, but a lot of that has to do with the fact that i can only get online in a shared computing room and already found somebody else's LJ from camp.
