Something short and mediocre. A vast difference in style as compared to my wordswordswords, if you know what I mean.
p.s; The space between the lines are all messed up and inconsistent. Sorry :/

There was just something about the girl next door. Taeyeon never really knew what it was but one thing was for sure, she was the puppeteer and Taeyeon was her puppet. Tiffany was her name, and she had all sorts of control over her. She didn't know when it started- well, maybe she did. What she truly didn't know was what they were. They acted like friends in the day, having seeing each other practically every day and even going to the same school together.
What confused Taeyeon most was: did friends make out during the night?
No, she didn't think so.
Friends don't make out with each other at all.
Friends with benefits?
She hoped not.
They never really talked about it.
As she laid against the declined passenger seat of a mini cooper and fingers interlocked with the girl in the driver's seat, Taeyeon wondered for the nth time what they were. The roof of the car was opened and it was chilly but Taeyeon's thoughts were whirring and distracted her from anything else. It was comfortable, being like that with Tiffany. Holding hands, spending quiet time together… kissing.
Those where things couples do, but were they a couple?
They weren't, were they?
The night was always questionable for Taeyeon. They had their first kiss at night, at a party, under the influence of a little vodka. Weirdly, it didn't stop there and they didn't get awkward the day after even though they remembered everything. Their relationship -whatever it was- escalated from there. They would often sneak out, with Tiffany waiting outside Taeyeon's place late at night, and Tiffany would drive them to the river. They would make out for a bit, then talk under the stars about everything and anything. Or they'd talk first before making out. It depends, but that was usually how it went.
It was never really hormone-driven make out, though.
No, never like that.
Tiffany was gentle, controlled.
The one thing Taeyeon had control of was when they kiss, she always had the lead.
These were all questionable and they've talked a lot about a lot of things. They've gotten to know each other so much better each time but they've never talked about them or what they were.
"Are you okay?" Tiffany spoke up, breaking the serenity around them. "You're exceptionally quiet today."
Taeyeon pondered. It's been two months, it was only right for her to know what they were.
Wasn't it?
"Taeyeon?" Tiffany called softly.
She turned to meet a pair of worried eyes. Why was she worried? Taeyeon didn't know.
"What are we doing?" she asked.
"What?" Tiffany looked surprised.
With what, though? Why was she so surprised?
By the question or by the fact that she had asked at all?
Taeyeon didn't know the answer to that either, but she replied anyway. "What is this?" she asked, gesturing lightly at their joined hands.
A brief pause and Taeyeon searched the eyes that seemed to be deep in thought.
Had Tiffany really not wondered like she did? At all?
"Well, I-," Tiffany started before stopping abruptly. "Isn't it clear enough?"
Was she serious?
How could any of this be clear at all?
Taeyeon frowned. "Is it?" she countered.
Tiffany looked genuinely confused now. "Isn't it?"
Okay, obviously they were going nowhere with this. Taeyeon lets go of Tiffany's hand and sat up, propping the seat back upright and noticed Tiffany do the same. She turned to look at Tiffany, finding the latter looking worried again.
"No, not really," she said. "It's not so clear for me."
Tiffany looked away, tilting her head back up to face the dark sky and Taeyeon followed suit. The moon was out tonight, full and round. It was beautiful. There weren't any stars though, just a few clouds floating by.
"I'm not seeing anyone," Tiffany stated suddenly. "Or have kissed anyone else since the party that night."
She turned to look at her, not really sure where the conversation was going. Their eyes met again; Tiffany's gaze was warm like it always was, like everything about her was.
"What about you?" Tiffany asked, her head tilted with a small smile grazing her face.
Taeyeon chuckled, she could somewhat understand now. "Same."
"Is this okay with you?" The worry was there again.
She scoffed playfully. "Wouldn't have allowed you to kiss me if it isn't, would I?"
That made Tiffany grin briefly before pouting. "I'm just.. I guess I didn't really think it was necessary to talk about it."
She raised her eyebrows. "Why? Are you playing with me?"
Taeyeon knew Tiffany wouldn't, ever, but she couldn't stop herself. She held back a smile, watching the girl panic.
"What?! No! It's n-"
A snigger escaped her. "Chill, I was just kidding."
Tiffany shoved her a little, before explaining, "I just wanted to see if we could try it first? See where it goes. I don't know, I guess I should have talked to you first huh?"
"Yeah, you should have." Taeyeon nodded, weighing her options briefly before deciding. "So, we date now or what?"
A soft chuckle. "So romantic, you are."
She shrugged non-committally, earning her a hit on her thigh. She grinned. "So?"
"Yeah, we date now," Tiffany said just as casually, but the soft smile on her face and twinkle in her eyes were enough to tell Taeyeon that she didn't take their relationship lightly at all.
Tiffany drove them back to their apartment building after another half hour. They held hands all the way from the car, into the elevator and up to their floor. They let go only when they've reached Taeyeon's door. Exchanging small smiles, Tiffany tapped her nose lightly.
"Goodnight, you," Tiffany said softly, as if afraid she'd wake up their parents. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Night." Taeyeon smiled and nodded, watching briefly as Tiffany walked a little further up the corridor before taking out her keys.
She quietly unlocked her door, opened it a little, and glanced at the other girl next door. Tiffany turned to give her a wink and gestured her to get inside before entering her own apartment and closing the door gently.
Taeyeon grinned and shook her head as she did the same.
There was just something about that girl next door that always made her feel all sorts of wonder.
She knew what they were now, and she couldn't be happier.
Tiffany was hers and they were together.
Would they last long?
She didn't know, but Tiffany was amazing.
And she knew the both of them would give it their all to make them work.
It's only just the beginning.
But it'd all be worth it, wouldn't it?
She thought about Tiffany again, like countless times before, albeit more fondly this time.
Yeah, she figured, it'd definitely be worth it.
