So, I thought maybe I was done writing fanfic. I certianly had moved on from Naruto. But I couldn't resist at least seeing what the manga's ending was, and then I saw it was the Naruto Meme's last month (fittingly, the theme is endings). Anyway, after seeing anon had requested giving Neji a happy ending, the old bug bit me. Here's the result.

Aaaaaah! That was wonderful. A good ending and a new beginning.

I don't know if this is what you were going for, but when I think of Neji and his journey, I see it as going through stages: he starts off innocently before he understands the complications of his clan (like that scene with Neji and Hinata as little kids), he becomes bitter and angry after the death of his father (chuunin exams), and finally, he moves into an "atoner" character type (the Sasuke retrieval arc, protecting Hinata, his death). There's a last step in that cycle that doesn't show up in the series though, which is Neji being able to embrace life for himself, which I see here in your story.

Oh, Thank you Wei. Yes, that what I often felt was missing in Neji's journey too, and I'm glad you see his embracing his own life in this story.

This is so cute. After everyone else who came back to life, it's kinda sad that Neji... didn't.

But, ALSO, um it's unfair that you reference Neji dying for Hinata. I did not ask for these feelings!!

(Also with the last chapter, the glimpse of Hinata we get is... at Neji's gravestone... never over it.)
