I have a bad habit of avoiding and putting off things that are unpleasant to think about/deal with such as almost everything concerning money and the making of it. So I have a television in my bedroom, but because I don't have cable, I only get the local TV station, which plays nothing but news and movies. It plays everything from badly dubbed kung fu films, to roy rogers, to black and white classics, to terrible 80s films and everything in between. I was invited by my friend Drew to join in on a collective jam with his project Dirty Couches at this year's It's Your Festival New Music Expo stage Friday afternoon. This may be due to altered states (not the movie, but it rules!) or the long evening of bike-riding through the Hamilton slums, but I'm feeling pretty awesome right now. The concept of self-visualization, though appealing, is bullshit to me.  No one can just decide to be something or envision who/what they wanna be/become and suddenly be transformed. Everyone who evolves into something substantially different than what they were gets there through the blood, sweat, and tears of experience. Some can perhaps be born ( Read more... )
