So I watched the CNN specials on God's Warriors from each of the three faith perspectives. It was interesting stuff because it seems that fundamentalism seems to stem from the same kinds of lives in many cases. A lot of the most ardent believers are people who come to god because their lives are shit, and they need something to validate

While I'm normally very irate at Israel's position in world politics, I understand their preemptive attack in the 6 day war. That war was going to happen anyway and everyone around them was intent on destroying them. That kind of constant battle zone also causes people to dig in their heels even when they should be dealing with things more rationally.
