To anyone else it was a simple gold chain. To Mac it was much more than that. To Mac it was the most important thing in the universe. It was Danny’s. He had left it at Mac’s apartment one night. Now Danny was missing and the gold chain was the only thing keeping Mac grounded.
It was given to Danny by his brother when he graduated the police academy. Mac still wasn’t sure why Danny had left something so important behind; but Mac always made sure it was on his person at all times. He wanted to give it to Danny when they found him, alive.

Mac was not one to be intimidated easily. He was a Marine and a police officer. He delt with people everyday. Even when the department found out about his relationship with Danny and the threats came, he didn’t back down.

When he came to work after a fight with Danny, he was met with a furious Stella and Lindsey. They cornered Mac and demanded to know what happened and what he was going to do to fix it. Mac found himself looking everywhere else but at them and actually started to become concerned for his safty as he tried to answer them the best he could. After a few minutes they seemed to be satisfied with his answered and they went back to work, acting as if nothing happened.

It could have been worse if he thought about it. If Aiden was still around she probally would have just shot him.

Danny knew he screwed up. He screwed up bad. He hadn’t meant to blow Mac off on their anniversary. It was just…things were bad at the lab and it was hard for him to leave work at work. Not that Mac was really any better at it than he was.

He needed some space. He knew he probably should have said something to Mac, but at the time he just wanted to go.

It was when he got back to their apartment when Danny realized how bad he had screwed up. On the counter was a silver wedding band. One that looked just like the one he had on his finger. Mac’s.
