Follow up to the whole Aqua Teen Hunger Force / Boston City fiasco.

First I would like to say that I don't think the Boston Police Department over reacted during the initial incident. The spotted suspicious devices placed on prominent structures through out the city and responded accordingly. The BPD had the welfare of the city in mind. Now that I have that out of the way, I think everyone else is over reacting. At ( Read more... )

This whole case has bothered me from the very beginning. I agree that the tactics were a little unorthodox. But we are talking about Adult Swim here. The audience they were trying to appeal to is 18-24 year old dudes. Secondly their attitude is the rough obnoxious snarky younger stoner brother of the regular Cartoon Network ( ... )

Like I said, I am not mad at the initial BPD response. You have to remember that a lot of these cops have probably never watched Adult Swim and have no idea who Aqua Teen Hunger Force is. They had to take any perceived threat seriously. Keep in mind that before 9/11 no one would have thought that our civilian aircraft would be used as weapons against us.

Once everything was explained I think that is when the over reacting started. Was this a stupid stunt? Yes. Should the advertising firm be fined and reprimanded for not clearing it with the city(s) first? Hell yes. Should they be marched in front of the press and persecuted like witches? Fuck no, only in Boston would this happen.

After everything is said and done I only have one question. Where can I get one of those Mooninite signs?

Yeah that would really cool to have one of those bad boys hanging on a wall.

And I loved the way they did the press conference too. They were told not to talk about the situation and unlike an episode of Law and Order they listened to their attorney.

I loved the press firing questions at them. Eventually getting to "So what was it like to spend the night in jail?" My favorite. I have been in jail for a about 12 hours period before. It sucks! and whatever your mind comes up with what that experience would be like. Yeah it pretty much is like that. What kind of answer were they looking for?

"I did it and I am proud of it! I would do it tomorrow if I could! Down with America! Spread anarchy! Cops suck! Put me back in jail I loved it!"
