Granddaddy's (or Grandaddy's, if you prefer the single D version)service was absolutely awesome. The choir was wonderful, my cousin gave "family remarks" off the cuff and flawlessly, and the participating pastors all did a great job ( Read more... )

hmmm.. I am with you but I need to tell you it isn't as simple as saying theya re adults and that they can do it themselves.. people get into habits and if they have not been in the habit of being on contact with your family they don't even think about it ( ... )

Hmm... interesting. They have always been in contact with their dad (you know, $$$) and as far as I know, Grannie and Granddaddy always send birthday cards (Grannie is REALLY good for that). Grannie is not into e-mail "I don't need another electric thing in this house making noise."

Unfortunately, they are the ones with Granddaddy's name... well, maybe not unfortunately, but I think it's important for one to be in contact with "their people." My brother doesn't know as much of the family on either side as I do, but that's because he has to be damn near cattle-prodded to show up for something. It's sad, because he is the only son of an only son.

*sigh* I guess we all have different "family values."
