Man, I have been watching some of them and after listening to the first person speak, I have practiced responding. That one is the only one I have done so far that I have been able to make a decent argument! (Out of like 3)

Debate's definitely all about being able to not only see all sides of an issue but being able to take a position and run with it passionately regardless of your own beliefs. Pretend you believe in it. Besides, usually if you believe in something passionately enough you are familiar with all the counter-arguments because you've heard them all and combated them before. I think probably the most passionate constructive I've ever delivered in all my years of debate was when combating a case regarding the removal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in the military. I essentially had to argue against gay rights - from a certain perspective, not straight up (no pun intended) - but holy shit, it was a thrilling round and I owned the affirmative.
