Nicely done - great pick-up from the last story, and great addition to the overall universe. I love the references to "The Trial" and to the relationship between Stains and the seven. Also love Vin's inability to walk away from the town. Great characterization - and you know I love the past you're weaving for him.
yeah, I think it depends on the situation and 'which" Chris; at the beginning of the series, I think he would have walked straight into the fight, the same way he did when he and Vin went to save Nathan, the same way that he walks down the street firing at 'what's-his-name' in "Safecracker". But as the series goes on, he becomes less 'death by cop' because he finds others that he cares about and because he takes his responsibility to them and to the town more seriously. By the time you set this story, he would not have chosen Eagle Bend over his own people. Which is pretty much why he sent Vin and JD In the first place (well, that and giving them something else to do).
Vin and his white knighthood - oh definitely. He saves people whether they want to be saved or not *g*
Thank you. Ideas for the next story are forming - just not sure if I want to end the universe with that story, or leave it open in case more ideas come my way (or anyone else's way).
I can say that the people out at Chris's ranch are safe. All bets are off on anyone else!
OMG, you're going to get a bingo in one AU! That's awesome! I still haven't seen the show but you make everything clear enough that I didn't need to watch the show to understand what is going on here. Nicely done!
Thank you. Of course, the alien tech is much more advanced in the show, but I figured that over 100 years ago, they wouldn't have what they have now. I'm glad that it's clear enough to follow without having to watch the show.
Oh, thank you! One story away, and while I know what I want to have happen, I can't decide on who who will be the POV this time around. Chris hasn't had a chance yet, neither has Josiah, Buck or J.D. - or if one of the other ones gets to have another turn. :-)
