my friend danny let me borrow some mics and on friday we went to guitar center and i bought a stand and cables. so, the mics plus the m-audio preamp i bought on ebay a few weeks ago = me being able to stop recording using my built-in laptop mic (example of that). i've been messing around with the setup in garageband (i can't get my old copy of ( Read more... )

If I didn't have so many other things I ought to be doing, I ought to pick after effects back up. I loved that program. To be more realistic though, the developments in web technology and my increasing knowledge of python and its associated libraries will probably end up giving me nearly as much creative freedom as after effects did.

I might not remember a lot of the technical nitty gritty, but if you get into it and want any advice on how to try to accomplish something, let me know. I think I still remember a lot of the really impressive tricks using masked layers and crossfades.

If you're interested in both Python and post, all of the new highend compositing tools from Autodesk have python apis. Toxik for example: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=7635837#section23

There is next to nothing in terms of online resources for more info about this. It's such a niche market, but I'm really interested in delving more into this stuff. I was at this Autodesk seminar last fall and they showed how you can expose these apps with python. One example was a webpage where a customer/director could login accessing a custom site built for a movie in production. It was a simple site where a director could manipulate shots via a web interface. Ex: 'hey I don't like this light, let's turn it off, render and see what it looks like'

There's a shit load more to it than that, but it's an exciting blend of technology. I see it as a really uncharted, yet fertile niche industry.

yaye, mp3. i think i would've rather stayed at home alone on prom than to have gone alone like i did. but i couldn't resist. i don't regret it, but it's definitely not in the "i'm glad i did that" column of life.

you and danny should hold a jam session at the karma cafe for my amusement.

oh! you know what i just thought of? the moustache boys. i think you should call your slowcore band this. you can slap on a fake stache while he sports his (real) heebie one. perfection.
