I'm not sure why your experience with the laid gold work makes me snigger evilly, but it does. Probably because I'm a a bad person. OTOH, I have still not done a second side of my pouch ...

You are indeed Evil incarnate! But then, we always knew that. :-)

I'm finding the embroidery part to be really quite enjoyable, and would happily do it again. Need to find something that doesn't involve any nasty, nasty gold background...

Yep, doing the laid work gave me a new respect for the Mejevils who did whole bloody copes of the stuff.

But it does look lovely.

Thank you! I'm reasonably chuffed with how it's turning out.

I can't take any credit for the image or the layout. I stole the pictures holus-bolus from Manesse Codex. I'm a craftsperson, not an artist, and drawing something freehand was really not a viable option if I didn't want it to look like a genuine medieval Picasso...!

Love it all but especially the horse's spotty bum.

It's beautiful. I'm no good with shading.

Stunning! Coincidentally, I spotty horse's bum is the bit I love best too. Can't wait to see the finished item. Glad to hear it doesn't have an accompanying soundtrack of curses :)
