Haven't play Golden Sun or Phantasy Star so can't comment on them beyond the bulletin points, so I go into what I know.
Edgeworth I like your Edgeworth, but if you're not feeling the character, trying to force it will just make you less enthused and just delays the inevitable. And as that canon review for Text games can be tedious, just replay the most important cases to see if that helps.
Alucard As much I love to see him around, the fact he is by nature a loner and a poor conversationalist is a problem, though like Heero Yuy and Batman, half the fun with him is putting him in the most ridiculous situations/ridiculous people and have him react. His Sorrow versions would be easier by that he is much better at talking (being pretty much 1/2 of the Exposition Team).
On bulletin points alone Rune seems to be the best fit, a different character type and seem like the potential for hilarity.
