Nice to see you here and pity about the kitty... In regards to "giving up" on his return, is this in reference to getting another cat? If so, would having another cat preclude you from accepting his return? If you're okay with the possibility of having 2 kitties, then there's no real need to give up hope that he may someday return. At the same time, if having 2 cats is not a problem, then I don't see any issue with getting another cat when being catless becomes a greater issue than the fact that you could possibly end up with 2 kitties.

Just my 2 kitty cents.

I'm totally okay with multiple cats, but the issue is, when do I quit putting up posters and flyers? When do I quit the active search?

Ahhh... Well, in that case I think only YOU will know when that time arises... If your family pesters you about hanging more notices, it's probably too early.
