She wants a cell phone because she will be doing a lot of traveling by bus soon when she baby sits after school. But I agree, it's not necessary.

You think 13 is bad...wait until 14. Devon just got her second holes pierced, actually! For her 14th b-day. She got her first ones for her 7th, second for her 14th.

Let her do anything she wants to her hair (that doesn't make her a hoochie), but I'd say no to the cellphone. It's important to keep tabs on who kids are talking to, and a cellphone doesn't help you do that. There is such a thing as too much privacy at this age...they don't have the good judgment to stay out of trouble.

I agree too and have told her that the cell phone thing is not going to be happening any time soon. If anything, she can borrow mine if she and her friends are going to the mall.
