I do rely on him. But he wasn't here for any of that shit and he doesn't remember it. It would just worry him for no reason.

That's a load of crap! You should have told him from the start too. He might not remember but you're still his underling and he's still responsible. That's part of being the boss. It took you a long time to get over it? Did you really get over it or did you just decide to pretend everythings okay so you can seem like you're in control? Are you seriously going to let people get away with walking over you? With hurting you?

Why should I have told him? How could he be responsible for things and people he was never around for? Telling him would just worry him about things he can't change, and it would make him think I can't handle myself. Worse, it might make him think he had failed when he couldn't have done anything.
