I.
'I'm getting married." She looks at her father with wide eyes, her mouth open. Soo Jin looks rolls her eyes as she lifts her younger sister's chin up to close her mouth. Sooyoung looks at her with a look of disbelief, her mouth open once again she turns to look at her father.
"What?" Sooyoung asks again, not believing what her father has just said to them.
"I'm getting married." Mr. Choi repeats himself to his youngest daughter.
"Correction. You're getting remarried." Soo Jin points out before finishes the last of her dinner,
"But why? I mean, you have us! Why would you want to get married?" Sooyoung asks, bewildered that her father was getting remarried.
"Come on, Sooyoung. Appa's not getting any younger and he's probably lonely." Soo Jin defends her father. Sooyoung looks at her father. She's never seen him like this, her father who was her superman (and still is) fidgeting on his seat, she grabs her glass of water and gulps down its contents, she slams the glass down on the table. Her father jumps from his seat while her older sister calmly continues eating.
"Okay." She announces, her face full of determination. Her father looks at her in confusion.
"Okay? Okay..what?"
"You can get married, Appa." Sooyoung declared, proud of her decision.
"Remarried." Soo Jin corrects her again, Sooyoung throws her a look while their father claps his hands together in joy.
"Oh, how wonderful! You'll see, girls. We'll be so happy together and you'll meet your new sister!" Sooyoung gasps.
"NEW SISTER?!"
"Yah! Choi Sooyoung! FOR GOD'S SAKE, DON'T TALK WHEN YOUR MOUTH IS FULL! "
II.
/Six months passed.
"Joohyunie~" Joohyun looks up from her textbook to see her older step sister at the door of the library, signaling her to come out. She quickly packed her things and went out.
"Come on, we're gonna be late for Unnie's birthday!" Sooyoung exclaims excitedly. She grabs Joohyun's free hand and runs, dragging her along. It was a good thing that Joohyun was almost as tall as Sooyoung. If she wasn't she would have a hard time catching up, even though her unnie was an unexpectedly slow runner. A soft strumming of a guitar enters Joohyun's ears and as they move forward the strumming became louder.
Sooyoung lets go her hand and continues to run, leaving Joohyun in front of the room of where the said strumming came from. Joohyun takes a step towards the window of the room, she discovers it was the school's music room she was standing in from of. She takes a peek from where the strumming came from and she finds a boy with dark hair. She couldn't see his face clearly because his head was down, focusing on his guitar. But she found the structure of his face strong and even beautiful and with his eyes down, she took note of his long eyelashes. For the first time, she wanted to see another man's face other than her father's.
"Please. Please look up."
"Joohyun ah!" The mystery man's head shoots up from Sooyoung calling out her name. Their eyes meet and feels her spine shiver. She couldn't get another look at his face as she was again dragged away by Sooyoung.
She looks back in hopes of seeing his face once more but only sees his head back down
III.
Sooyoung and Joohyun roamed around the hall, greeting the guests for Soo Jin's birthday party. Sooyoung catches a glance at her older sister as she also greets her guests with their father and new mother. They suddenly stop to chat with her friends and now also Joohyun's from school.
"How are you, Choi Sooyoung?" Joohyun suddenly sees her unnie's facial expression change from a pleasant and happy one to one that she can't describe. Sooyoung turns around to the person who greeted her, not even bothering to change her expression. Joohyun looked back to see if their friends could help her but they were no longer there but mingling with others.
"Cho Kyuhyun." Sooyoung said with displeasure. Kyuhyun chuckled, he has always enjoyed seeing her annoyed expression. He especially liked the way her lips moved when she was annoyed.
"Tha's Kyuhyun oppa to you. Honestly, when did you get so disrespectful to your elders, Sooyoungie?" Kyuhyun says while he puts a hand on his chest, looking hurt. He then notices a girl beside Sooyoung, he moves his attention to her and smiles.
"Hello, I believe we haven't met before. I'm Cho Kyuhyun, Sooyoung's friend." He extends his hand to the girl. He hears Sooyoung mumble something about him not being her friend anymore to which he ignores.
"I'm Seo Joohyun." She replies and looks down at his hand. She hesitates at first but then obliges to shake hands with him.
"Watch out for him, Joohyun. He may be nice at first but he's evil." Sooyoung warns her, she looks at her with wide eyes. Kyuhyun rolls his eyes.
"Oh come on, Sooyoung. You're giving her the wrong idea!" Kyuhyun exclaims while Sooyoung shakes her head while her arms envelope Joohyun in a protective embrace.
"No ,I am not! I will not let you the innocence of our baby sister!" Sooyoung declares, determined not to let Kyuhyun corrupt Joohyun.
"Sister? Oh! So she's your new step sister! Congrats, Sooyoung. She's just as pretty as you and Soo Jin noona." He compliments which made Joohyun turn a crimson.
It wasn't the first time she was told she was pretty. Jiwoon told her numerous times and so other did too. But none of them were was handsome as Kyuhyun. Well, maybe one man could be compared but she could only remember his eyes. Sooyoung noticed her younger sister's blushed state, shocked she hugged her even tighter and dragged her away from Kyuhyun.
"Be gone, You demon! Don't ever try to seduce our precious maknae!" Kyuhyun shakes his head in amusement as he watch Sooyoung drag Joohyun across the room. He feels a hand on his shoulder and smiles, not bothering to turn his head to see who it was.
"You just missed her, Changmin. " Changmin moves to Kyuhyun side as he also watches Sooyoung and Joohyun across the room.
"Don't worry ,the night is still young, I'll talk to her later." Changmin replies as he waves a hand at Sooyoung who notices him. She blushes and shyly waves back
A/N: Hi, I'm back! :) To be honest, I started writing this after I wrote "What is love" and didn't finish it because of school. I don't have a title yet and I'm still not sure if I should post this in communities or write a continuation because I'm not really confident about this. But in the mean time, I will just post it here. Hehe. I really missed livejournal and all the friends I made here. Comments are appreciated. Thank you for readng. <3
