Genre: angst? fluff?
Summary: It was forever, and they could still remember the very last day they spoke before this.
Changmin grabbed Jaejoong's hand. Shoving his car keys into his hand. Changmin's face, cold, impersonal. Jaejoong's hand wrapped around the cold metal. Yoochun looked up from the kitchen table as the front door opened and Yunho walked in. The atmosphere seemed tense as Jaejoong looked down at his hand then the Changmin again. Changmin's eyes looked at him expectantly. Yunho froze as he saw the exchange while removing his shoes. Yoochun looked up from the coffee that he was drinking which didn't have the delicious fumes of coffee floating from it. Junsu walked in silently following Yunho, holding mail.
This was the first time. In three months? Five months? It felt like forever in Changmin's mind, but he needed this, he needed this reassurance, it just happened to be Jaejoong first. Jaejoong felt like punching the youngest. he could remember that last conversation he had with Yunho over the very same thing that Changmin was silently asking him.
"And what happens to the group?"
"What do you mean? Yunho, You know how they treat us!"
"So you're just going to sue them?"
Jaejoong could still remember the how calm Yunho had been, Yoochun had stood near the door, And Junsu was in the kitchen. Changmin, Changmin, he sat on the couch as Yunho and Jaejoong stood across the coffee table.
Changmin could remember the day too. He saw a canyon being formed between the eldest and the leader. He could distantly see Yoochun and Junsu standing next to Jaejoong. He remembered the hand Jae had held out to him. To change it, to make it better. Changmin couldn't take it, he saw the hurt that flashed across Jaejoong's face. He saw the resignation, then he couldn't see him at all. He heard the fangirls screaming, he heard a car starting. He felt the floor on his knees, as if it came to meet it. He felt something wet sliding down his cheeks, he saw Jaejoong, he saw Jae, he saw Joongie, he saw his hyung. He saw Yoochun, Junsu standing next to Jaejoong on the gigantic canyon they made between themselves. He saw them standing for them, the entire TVXQ in MAMA, he saw they were on the verge of crying. And never, except that moment, did Changmin want out, out of this insane business, of the fans, of the company, of the spotlight. He wanted to hold Jaejoong in him arms again. Make fun of his height, for only reaching his shoulders, to one touch him the only way Jaejoong could. He wanted to go back to being normal.
Jaejoong put the keys on the table on the other side of Yoochun. Yunho watched as Jaejoong made his way to look Changmin in the eye, as much as he could, with Changmin being a head taller then him. He spoke, his voice slightly raspy, dry. From talking too much, Changmin would've hoped, but he knew it was from crying.
"No," Jaejoong spoke and Junsu looked at Yunho and smiled gently. Yoochun smiled and watched the two.
"I'm not going to be gone any longer," Jaejoong said, his voice getting a little louder.
Jaejoong felt the air being knocked out of him. Outside Tokyo was bustling, and it was their first time. In three months? Five months? It felt like forever in Jaejoong's mind, of being in this apartment, as TVXQ, as Tohoshinki. Sure they weren't Dong Bang Shin Ki again yet, but to Jaejoong, for a few moments, couldn't seem to care with an arm full of Changmin and the others moving closer and wrapping their arms around the two of them. He couldn't seem to care.
