Like some of you, I am an unrepentant Stephen King geekasaurus. I haven't really followed his latest stuff, but when I have kids, I'll definitely look the other way when they get curious about his books. I've actually only ever read The Dark Tower (and of that, only the first few). Maybe my P-Town reading will consist of some of his work.

I am a stupid book snob and I LOVE Stephen King. I read the Stand (Unabridged) when I was 11, and he fed my lifelong love of horror movies and writing. And they're right that Eyes of the Dragon RULES. The only thing that has bothered me is that since the 90s his 'sexy' writing has gotten a little creepy old man for me. But whatever. Just don't read Bag of Bones.

I like that "survivor type" was their recommended gateway - because it was mine! there was a weird girl in my seventh grade class who hated everyone and would sit at the end of the lunch table reading and rereading stephen king books and one day she said READ THIS STORY. she didn't mean to be nice - she clearly wanted to freak out a square, and I DID freak out but in the BEST POSSIBLE WAY and thereafter devoured everything of his I could get my hands on ( ... )
