Car insurance is weird, I move from a busy city to a more "rural" area, and my car insurance goes up (Geico), I switch to Progressive and save like $100 a year, and all is well... I move again (~two weeks ago) to a slightly busier area, and Progressive insurance goes up $108 a year, I call up Geico for a new quote, and it's $450 less a year than ( Read more... )

Where did you move to??

And yea, insurance companies are weird. You need to constantly shop around to get the best rates.

I'm still in Rochester, a little closer to Downtown, no particularly heavy traffic here though :)

Yeah I think I'll try making it a habit to shop around for new insurance every 6 months or so, doesn't take very much time and I got nothing to lose!

I feel it man!

In PA, when I was 24 with 2 vehicles, one with full coverage I paid ~$400 a year. I was 30 miles from Phily in a very dense area.

I moved here where I can drive with my eyes closed and not worry about crashing. I have the same policy, same limits - I pay $1200 a year. And I am 35, and have had no accidents or tickets for many years.

Go figure.

Haha, exact same situation (two cars, a Winter beater, and the car you saw :P), when I was in a higher traffic area on campus, the premiums were low, moved more "rural", premiums went up, I found that to be stupid logic so I pissed and moaned at the insurance company for an explination, and they actually told me that premiums are higher in areas with less traffic because "the driver is more likely to lose concentration" or space out... I dunno about that, but the way insurance companies work, that must be what statistics dictate I guess heh...

And damn that's a hell of a hike for you, $800 more?! I'd be livid!
