Comment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.
Questions from
yagfox here.
Favourite shop
Charity shops, for the random. What will I find? Might be a book, might be a Happy Meal toy, might be a pair of jeans. Often it's a present for one of my lucky, lucky friends whom I value so much I buy them other people's unwanted tat. Bromley's best is probably the Marie Curie, which puts out old books as well as recent paperbacks.
Land, sea, air
Yes please :)
I love travelling by any medium. Land, of course, means motorbikes. My favourite land to ride in is France, because the excellence of the roads is matched only by that of the foods.
Sea is usually ferry. Ferry is great, when the sea is calm; it means fervent anticipation on the way out, and exhausted satisfaction on the way home. Tunnel is quicker but less relaxing.
I am a big enough geek to enjoy the airport as a destination in itself, just because it's plane-related (hey, there are little plane symbols everywhere! SO COOL!).
This weekend, all being well, I get to do land, sea and...air-related tourism, though not actual flying.
Home made
I'm a perfectionist, so I'm always dissatisfied with things I've made myself (usually cross stitch or cakes) and a bit embarrassed about handing them over, in case the recipient thinks Dear God what is this scruffy piece of crap? It's lovely when other people make me stuff, though!
Once upon a time I made myself a partial fursuit. I don't wear it very often because it's neither very well-made nor very comfortable, but I'm still proud of the achievement.
Television show
I got heavily into Pan Am last year (planes! 1960s music! 1960s clothes! CIA agents! plucky, sassy air hostesses!) but I understand it's been cancelled, leaving loads of dangling threads. They also had to wrap it up immediately after the Kennedy assassination, so the cast went from SHOCK HORROR at the end of one episde to 'oh well, moving on' a week later.
This year I am looking forward immensely to Parade's End, because I loved the book. I can't begin to imagine how it will translate to the small screen (almost nothing happens, but in an enthralling manner) but I look forward to finding out.
Guilty pleasure
Most of my guilty pleasures involve food. Eating olives straight from the jar is one; another is making an enormous batch of popcorn and eating it all. I know neither of those is an especially sinful food, but you have not seen the quantities of them I can put away.
Want to go back
Swedish Lapland, home of life-changing husky experiences. People keep asking me when I'm going to return. It shocks me that I only went three times, for one week, three weeks and two weeks, and that I haven't been since 2008. It's finding the time to make going worthwhile; if I go as a helper, it takes a week to get used to the routine again and start being useful.
I very much want to go back to San Francisco; I don't know when I've felt more at home in a new place. I have some scooter forum acquaintances in the area now, so hopefully when I return I can do some riding.
Never again
Wearing tights made me so miserable at school that I have never, ever worn them in my adult life. Socks FTW.
