The Push is on the shortlist for this year's BSFA Award for Best Short Fiction. That's how absurd the universe is.

I'll tell you what's really bizarre, Ian Whates and Ian Watson both have stories on the shortlist too, so I'm in the weird position of being up against my publisher and editors, and Ian Whates is in the odd position of being up against stories in two of his own publications.

Thanks, Jean Marie! It would be a hell of a surprise if it did win. It does remind me, though, that I showed Teri an early draft and she said she thought it was an award-winner. I demurred and...well, you know how Teri reacted to people who demur.
