I was surprised when I found out it had been four years and seven months since the last time I had seen Greg Proops live and indeed four years and seven months since he had been in Cleveland (to my knowledge anyway). This is so fascinating. I saw Greg (for the first time!) earlier this year - in March, I think? - and his routine was about 75% comprised of material from around eight years ago, if longer. I guess with the international audiences you can be more lax?

What I've noticed about female comics is that they usually fall into one of two categories. 1) They do lots of jokes about what it's like to be (stereotypically, not realistically) female and how men are stupid and inferior in every way and, I dunno, for some reason guys just don't really relate to that kind of comedy! 2) They try to be loud and outrageous as if they're trying too hard to overcome the stereotype that lady comics are lame, even though this ends up being kind of sad and pathetic in its own right. (Sarah Silverman springs to mind even though I don't think I've ever actually SEEN her do stand-up, but she's definitely loud!) So, it's nice when, y'know, neither of those is really the case!

You mentioning that voice-raising audience imitation thing reminds me a lot of the time I watched Jim Gaffigan's Comedy Central special, and it was initially amusing enough when he did that, but then, when all was said and done I think it probably comprised more than half of his act.
