BayCon 2008, Bob Asprin

A cloud hung over BayCon for me this year. I got word the night before the con that Bob Asprin had died. I think I was somewhat in shock on Friday. *hugs* Was good to see you. It's always sort of an "all's right with the filk" for me when I'm at a west coast con and I look out from a stage or in to the center of a circle and Harold's there with a camera on a tripod. :)

There was a point when I was going to request that you do something, anything, but things kept happening and I never got that in. I was glad that you jumped in yourself now and again over the weekend.

I still have a lot of experimenting to do.

I'm not sure about that "backwards compatible" bit. I tried playing one of the anamorphic 16:9 DVDs on two players and I got squished 4:3 rather than letterbox. There may be settings I have to change on the DVD players - but one had a choice of "16:9, 4:3 Pan-and-scan, 4:3 letterbox" and it gave squished 4:3 on all of them playing back the disk. So maybe that only works on a commercial DVD and not the DVD+R I was using. Or maybe it's as backwards as that Windows Media player.
