Can anyone tell me what is with the LJ accounts that are invariably in Cyrillic that friend me randomly and are so far without exception terminated within a few weeks of doing so?

Possibly, hey, maybe one of those LJ account holders? With the friending without commenting? Which we call lurking?

Short story: it's not clear for sure what the intentions are, but likely farming personal info from you, your friends, etc, hoping to snag private information from a friends locked entry, which could lead to identity theft.
