If so, the answer is 3x + 1

(-√x)^2 + 2x + 1
(-√x * -√x) + 2x + 1
( √x * √x) + 2x + 1 negatives cancel out
( x ) + 2x + 1 multiplied
3x + 1 added

( √x)^2 + 6x + 9
( √x * √x) + 6x + 9
( x ) + 6x + 9 multiplied
7x + 9 added
