Stargate Universe - More WTFery

Continuing my bizarre compulsion to make myself the unofficial Bearer of Weird News, I came across this link via io9 earlier today, containing two more casting calls and a plot summary.

Several things to say about this:
- firstly, is it weird that I'm excited about the 'ninth chevron' thing? I've always wondered what the ninth chevron actually does, although given that the eighth one seems to be 'make the wormhole go really far' I'd kind of assumed that the ninth might be 'make it go really, REALLY far' and have truly collosal energy requirements. Anyway, it'll be kind of nice to have this little mystery solved though at the same time I suspect the final answer might be a bit underwhelming.
- knowing that the good ship Destiny was named such by the Ancients rather than the idiot humans plucky adventurers who stumble across it doesn't make it better.
- Chloe Walker is "his daughter and political aids"? Aids, multiple? Does she have some kind of split-personality thing going on, where the nice side of her is really good at PR, meet-and-greet stuff and then her evil side is the kind of ruthless stategist necessary for a career in politics?
- The summary for Camille says she's standed on the ship but then says she's 'guest star, possibly recurring'. How does that work? I suppose they could do the thing SGA did where theoretically there were hundreds in the city although we only ever saw about 10 of them, but it makes less sense to send hundreds of people on the very first exploration and there are fewer places to hide on a ship. Maybe the 'possibly recurring' means 'we'll kill your character off if you don't act it well enough'.

Anyway, against all odds this does actually make me more excited and less cynical about the new series, though I still have that 'skewing younger, eh? Oh dear' feeling at the back of my brain. We'll see!
