Sci-Fi Update
You lucky FL - not only am I updating you on Stargate Universe whether you want me to or not, I also have some rather unexpected Red Dwarf news!
First up: apparently the Stargate Universe pilot will include a familiar face in a cameo appearance. You have until the end of this sentence to guess who it is! Okay, so it's Michael Shanks - and if you didn't see that coming then apparently you're not as cynical/psychically gifted as I am. Handily, that same link also includes a vague reference to the next SG-1 movie in case anyone wants to know about that.
To be honest I'm kind of struggling to feel anything in response to the Daniel news because it seemed so totally inevitable. If it's anything like his appearance in the Stargate Atlantis pilot then I guess he'll make a few unhelpful comments and bemoan the fact that he's not allowed to join the mission - though given the characters in SGU are so much younger I suppose it's possible he might be there in more of a teacher role.
As for the Red Dwarf news... um, there's going to be more of it. So far as I was concerned that was news in itself, but it's also known what the new episodes are going to be called. The name itself is spoilery, so I'll just provide this link here for people who want to know. Personally I'm not thrilled at the idea of new Red Dwarf because I don't think it's really going to work - the last few seasons of Red Dwarf were a bit rubbish, and the pessimist in me thinks it's just been too long since the end of the last one for them to be able to maintain the style and feel of the show that made it appealing. But hey, I could be wrong!
