Now that the Rebekah and his existence in Arkham was known -- Elena probably went right back to Alaric and Damon with the information -- Stefan was taking the opportunity to explore. He hadn't done much of it, trying to keep a low profile and off of his brother and Alaric's radar, but now that he was on it again, it wouldn't hurt to look.
He paused in the middle of the quad, trying to get a sense of the place. He also would need to feed soon, but he was trying to keep that sense of rage in check. He couldn't draw that much attention to himself. After all, he knew that Alaric wasn't the only vampire hunter in town.
After his meeting with Mohinder, John, too, had taken the time to explore. He'd found several buildings locked up -- boarded up, more accurately -- and surrounded by some sort of barrier with no explanation, or at least none that were immediately apparent without going back and checking that damnable phone he'd been left with, as well as one around the campus proper which put something of a damper on any ideas about escape. As far as he could tell, he was trapped here, just the same as everyone else, and that was irritating. He didn't do well in cages. One of his animal forms involved impressive mobility for a reason
( ... )
Stefan actually wasn't using his phone. He wasn't old enough to be uninterested, but he was old enough that it wasn't a priority, even if he only looked seventeen. As he rounded the corner and spotted John, he gave him a thin smile before speaking up.
"Great day for a walk." There was a small mix of amusement and sarcasm -- it's not fun to walk where there was barely anywhere to go -- but at least they weren't trapped in some building that they couldn't escape.
John mirrored Stefan's amusement and sarcasm both, offering him a brief, thin smile. "I couldn't agree more. There's nothing quite like a stroll around a foreign university that one happens to be apparently trapped at."
"I should hope not," he shot back, another second's worth of amusement crossing his face as he moved to close the distance between them. Leaning heavily on his cane, he offered him his hand, "I should also hope I don't make a habit of forgetting my manors. John Kenway."
"Stefan Salvatore," he replied, reaching out to shake the older man's hand with a nod. "Nice to meet you, though I would have preferred under better circumstances."
"Longer than me, at least," John commented, a thoughtful frown sweeping in. "And so seems to be the case with everyone I've met thus far. I've only just arrived."
He frowned a bit at that. "A large group of us arrived a few weeks ago, but ... the recovery team made it seem as though it was a regular occurrence. Though, how frequent they weren't clear on."
"I'm not sure whether that's interesting, disturbing or some combination of both." Either way, his frown deepened. "And does this 'recovery team' know how, exactly, we came to be here? Or just that we somehow did?"
"If they do know, they haven't been sharing that information. Though at this point, we've really only tried asking nicely. We haven't moved to ... not asking nicely."
Meaning Stefan hadn't tried to compel them yet. But he was definitely considering it.
"If you've been here a fortnight and still can't get anyone to give you a straight answer, perhaps it's time." If he could track down this Dean character, he might try the same himself. "Someone must know something, if this is a regular occurrence, after all."
"There is, of course, the Dean here." He'd said something about having an office in the former Groundskeeping building, hadn't he? Perhaps that merited looking into. "He seemed to know a fair deal about our situation, but he also seemed ... distracted. It stands to reason that there were things he left out of his little speech, I think."
