Buffy was starting to get sick of standing still.

Things were tense with Angel, and while that wasn't anything new for the world as a whole, she was starting to think that that wasn't going to change. She knew that she hadn't necessarily made it easy, but she didn't know how she could. In the end, Giles was still going to be dead.

That wasn't going to change, and it still wasn't something she could forgive.

She could patrol, even though there was nothing to fight, but in her mind, it somewhat defeated the purpose of patrolling. She just needed somewhere to blow off some steam, so really -- she was hoping the gym had a punching bag.

Those? Extremely effective.

Elena was taking a breather from the punching bag itself, choosing instead to go at Alaric's palms. But, before she was going to do that, she was taping her hands.

"Have you started working on your weapons again?" she asked, spotting a familiar blonde she had seen on the Network. Instinctively, she moved away from the punching bag they were near to give Buffy her space. She knew Alaric was always working on them back home, making them better, making new weapons. They were lucky Alaric arrived with his stockpile.

"A little bit whenever I can." Which meant, whenever it wasn't his turn to play Elena's shadow. Between Damon and himself, they had pretty much worked out an around the clock schedule to make sure that she wasn't in any danger from threats inside the campus itself. Namely, one original vampire named Rebekah.

"I don't have as much to work with here," he added, his focus drifting toward the blonde girl he'd spoken to over the network as she nears the punching bag. Right, she was crazy Dracula girl. He looks back toward Elena before it's too obvious that he's watching, or you know, before it comes off as creepy.

"I was thinking of taking a look around some of the classrooms to see if I can salvage anything."

Buffy noticed them. And she would have said hi, if one of them didn't think she was crazy. She didn't come to get in her way, she just came to use the punching bag.

Which she would. Violently. Until she notices the bolts in the ceiling creaking, because this one wasn't really bolted in for Slayer strength.

She was getting sick of having shadows. Damon was being extra annoying and reveling in the extra time he and Elena had to spend together. It bordered on gloating.

"Good idea. If only there weren't an empty campus full of empty classrooms..." Get the hint, Alaric, she wanted to say. He had plenty of time during the day. He could take his time, search rooms and leave her alone. Adjusting the tape of her hands, she watched as Buffy wailed on the punching bag. She looked at Alaric and then back at Buffy as she noticed Buffy inspecting the ceiling.

"Is it going to fall?" she asked, genuinely curious. She was planning on using that some time today.

Welp, that was one way to get their attention. Although so far it only solidifies Alaric's belief that Buffy's a little nuts because weren't crazy people supposed to have random bursts of Hulk-like strength when the adrenaline kicked in or something?

"Might want to take it easy on some of this stuff. I'm not sure how old the equipment in here is." It looked pretty new-ish, but bolts didn't just come loose like that unless there was some serious rust issues going on or something.

"Age might not have anything to do with it," she sighed, taking a step back from the punching bag. That was ... unsatisfying, to say the least. The bolts seemed to hold, however, so she didn't have to worry about it coming down on someone's head. "It's just me."

She should probably just stick with patrolling. If she ran into a vampire, at least she knew they can take a beating.

Elena crossed her arms across her chest, looking at Alaric and then back at Buffy.

"What do you mean it's just you?" Someone with that kind of strength... could Buffy be a vampire? Superhuman in some way?

Alaric considers just standing there quietly while Buffy gives Elena the whole magical superheroine spiel, but she's more likely to take off before he can start openly judging her again-not that he could blame her after their previous exchange on the network ended in him more or less deciding that Buffy wasn't able to be trusted with projectile weaponry.

"She's a vampire slayer." Believe it or not, his tone is much less judgmental and a lot more "o h" this time around. It still sounded pretty farfetched to him, but a girl Buffy's size didn't just come knock a punching bag loose from the steel bolts in the ceiling after it had proven to be more than sturdy the entire time that Elena had been wailing on it on and off pretty steadily over the past forty five minutes.

Buffy appreciated the withholding of judgement this time around. It even managed to earn a small smile out of her before she pulled away from the punching back and crossed her arms in front of her chest.

"Bunch of creepy old guys a long time ago gave a girl the speed and strength to actually compete against the big bads. One girl in all the world to fight the forces of darkness -- when she dies, it passes down to the next 'chosen one.'" She shrugs. "Basically, I'm the latest in a really long line of dead girls."

She's not going to even bring up the mess she created with activating all the potential Slayers. That's got far more explaining attached to it than she would like, and since she's the only Slayer in Arkham at the moment, she doesn't really have to.

"Empowering," she decided. It was also creepy and only pointed out the inadequacies of the old men that long time ago but she wasn't trying to argue. She was just listening. It clicked, then, as well. "I think we talked over the network one time. Not long after we first got here. I remember you."

...And her vampire slaying.

"You two know each other?" She couldn't hide a bit of interest coupled with amusement. She wanted Alaric to make more friends his own age, to get out there and meet people. Women, specifically. He deserved to be happy.

Wow, Elena. You just made it awkward and it wasn't because of the not so subtle suggestion you implied may be there between the two of them.

"We've talked over the network." Alaric wasn't going to point out that he had assumed Buffy was certifiable after she tossed out Dracula's name or anything. No need to trudge up the past ok.

Buffy just ... paused for a moment, because no, that implication was not what she needed either. Especially trapped in a university that was under some kind of mystical siege. Especially with Angel around.

Yeah, no, sorry Elena, not going to happen. Buffy is going to pointedly ignore it, and just let Alaric do the talking.

"Just once, when we all first got here," she nodded. "So as well as you can know a person you met on video chat."

She hadn't meant to be less than subtle. She was trying to sound more inquisitive. But, the part that worried about Alaric and his happiness had creeped up.

"It's weird, having friendships, conversations with people you don't actually meet," she said. "In person." She tried to move the conversation forward. "I feel like we at least... hear people without ever meeting them."
