Die Young is so evil and blasphemous that we shut down a venue tonight in Tupelo, MS. No more shows there because of us. We're definitely back in the Bible Belt. Won't be here for long, though. Chattanooga tomorrow, which will be awesome seeing all my Chattanooga friends and Birmingham friends that are coming up. Then we're going all over up north ( Read more... )

props to all of the above. sorry i have to miss it.
but, i am ruining sooo many days/good times people are having.. it's incredible. pulling people out of their house to go to jail for beating their wife.. still with ham sandwiches in their mits. shit rules. can't wait to see you bro. i won't be able to make it tomorrow night but i'll see you soon enough.

Well, from the gay perspective, marriage does afford you a lot of rights and privileges in regards to taxation, bequeathment at death, hospital visitation, etc. The queer perspective (and there's a big fucking difference) is usually something like, "marriage is for a man and a woman - the oppressors. why the fuck would I want to align myself with them, and buy into their institutions?"

Personally, I view marriage a little bit as a trap. It's not that some people aren't cut out for it, a lot are and do quite well in that sort of situation, but having seen how bad a marriage can go in my own family (several times), I just think it's sort of inherently set up to make women feel dependent on men. Very rarely have I seen a situation where the two are equally paired.
