He had tried hard not to get attached to this place, but humans, as surely as seeds blown on the wind, will put down roots if they stay in one place long enough.
um, yeah. i've read this chapter 3 times now. it gets better with every reading. i love the images you evoke when you describe that last day on earth. lovely. (and yeah, for a second i thought it was possible that elijah might have been the one to bite the dust) needless to say, i'm berry berry happy it twere not him.
with the gradual pace you're setting, this looks like it could be several chapters long. (no pressure though! it would be fabulous, like an extra helping of chocolate cake, but i know some people hate being under the gun) i like the way you're giving us time to explore the changes between Earth and Nola, and how the characters relate to these changes. wonderful stuff!
(btw, i can't believe you doubt your ability to pull this off. :o) jeasie creasie it seems like some of the best writers have that worry. you just shouldn't. worry that is. ever.)
Oh man, it's impossible not to worry. I don't know why I should but I just want you all to have a pleasurable reading experience I guess. I just write for me because I'm happy in the little universe I'm creating but then I go to post it and I think, Chirst, they'll all think I'm mad. Fortunatly most of my flist is mad as well.

You're such an amazing storyteller. Gosh, I wish I was in your class; your little ones must go home with the best stories running through their heads.
