A lot of you are probably going to hate me and delete me for expressing my sincere thoughts regarding the Westboro Baptist Church (if you don't know what I'm talking about, I suggest you look it up on Wikipedia.org. I also recommend "The Most Hated Family In America" featured on YouTube.com.

I have the feeling that the "Fags eat feces 'fact'" isn't in the bible...à moins qu'il y ait eu des scatophiles à Sodom et Gomorrhe...m'enfin.

If one of them does it, they all do it. It's like pedophile priests. You know how it works. You have to keep in mind that they're very narrow-minded people.

well, many words from the bible have been changed, and often, really, depending on who was in charge of what denomination. but the bible is very clear, especially in leviticus, about homosexuality being a huge no-no.

still, the phelps family are fucking crazy. lol

Watch Jesus Camp. Some of them are in your White House. I'm not talking about the Phelps, but they're still radical fundamentalists. Fucking scary. And how are we these days, sir?

my latest journal pretty much answers the "who am i" question, unfortunately.

and, oh, i know there's religious fundamentalists in the white house. i think i posted a big article about that like a year or two ago. i may have still been with brittany when i did. don't know. but, yeah, i've known that for a while. it's kinda the theme of my entire new album, really.

You did and I'm sure you always knew. It must be terrifying for you as a (if I may) libertarian US-American to by surrounded by religion wherever you go, being the self-aware, anarchical virtuoso that you are. *Grin* Most of the time you'd just have to look in your pockets. I haven't heard your new album yet. I'd be glad to buy it now that I can actually afford it, ha. I like listening to the same songs over and over but newness is so good. I've admired you very timidly for quite a few years now. You seem to have a lot to say, and I loved what I've heard so far. Have you ever considered going solo? I mean, not permanently of course; Dark Eden is the best thing that happened to music since rhythm, but perhaps as a side project. An opportunity to expose a dimension of yourself that is alien to everyone. An up close and personal kind of thing with that raw, visceral, unique gift of yours. Can I still find a link to your band's website through your own? ;)

Woh! I could have so many things to talk about with that topic! silvermoon_luna September 11 2007, 00:28:53 UTC
Well... I completely agree...

The thing is, in religions, that I don't really like, is the fact that it doesn't evolve at all... Because anyway the past can't be changed, but it let people blindly follows beliefs because we have no proof of the existence of Jesus or God at all! I know, I dont always need to see to beleve... But in that case... For me god and the Devil are only metaphoric ideas of good and bad that are ''omnipresent'' in ourselves.

And for marriage, I must add some words; I've been in two in my life and the second time I've realised: eh... You need to ''officialise'' your love and give promisses? Haha.

And for gay marriage... Well, yes, they don't need that, to want something people really denigrate, they can do as they want, I don't know why law have a matter with that, but it's true that in that religion, it is stricly contradictory.

Religions are a good realson to engage querells... And I'm against all the laws of religion. We are not robots. At least I can say that Jesus was a good model...

I can't say I really agree with some points in your reasoning. Especially when you say that you are against gay marriage because the bible, and by extension Christianity, would be anti-homosexuality. I haven't read the bible through and through, but marriage isn't really a 'Christian only' practice anymore, it's a legal one more than anything. You can be married in a court of law and not a single spiritual being is involved. Yeah, maybe it's hypocrite for the whole Christian business, but Christianity is a hypocritical religion and has always been, it's the very foundation of it (read Nietzsche, especially The Antichrist, about that). On a legal basis, gay marriage is about recognizing an untraditional union as valid; on a social basis, it's about the right for two persons in love to unite their lives, whether they want spirituality in this whole thing is their own business and not anyone else's. A gay couple could get a pagan wedding, it has the same value for society and paganism doesn't regard homosexuality as an issue.

Hello and thank you for commenting.

That's the thing, it's not my reasoning. The whole concept of marriage, the very word, the root of it, the meaning, is religious. I'm not saying it's exclusively Christian, but again, the concept of a holy union through marriage is undeniably religious. The point of it is to unite a man and woman spiritually, before God, whoever he is to you. Wouldn't it be hypocrite for an atheist to get married in a church? I personally think so. Like I said, there are other ways for us GLBT to officialize a relationship legally, with or without spirituality involved, I think we do agree on this ( ... )

Thanks for your quick and interesting reply.
From what I read, we basically agree, I simply misinterpreted a few things.
The thing is, Christianity as well as many other religions lose popularity; sometimes, the religious body itself tries to win back the people it has lost (have you seen Kevin Smith's Dogma? Buddy Christ would be the perfect example of this)
At other times, it's people who want to feel religious and/or spiritual who call themselves Christians but in the end, know very little of Christianity. A bit like many Unitarians do.
Good day to you too.

I agree completely and that's essentially why I wanted to bring up this interesting phenomenon. I wouldn't want anything to do with the Phelps family but I do give them credit for following the scriptures and thus being "true" Christians to me. My mother calls herself a Christian but she never goes to church, she's divorced and sexually active and she doesn't know much about the Bible. My father believes that God made us but he believes in evolution at the same time. He doesn't know much about the Bible either. They take what they want from it and discard the rest because it's convenient, because they want to live free and I don't blame them for it, but that doesn't make them true Christians in my opinion. If I were a Christian, I think I would be as passionate as the Phelps, because I would believe in the Bible, I would believe in hell and I would do everything I humanly could to avoid going there. I would preach the word of God and I would honor his will. But things are different. I'm a dirty sinner, I'm not sure whether or not God ( ... )
