Character Information

General
Canon Source: Dragonball Z
Canon Format: Anime/Manga
Character's Name: Son Gohan
Character's Age: 10
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. Gohan is actually very self-sufficient and capable, though he'd still try to live with any friends he makes while in the Port once his free rent period is up. He'd still at least try to get part-time work if he could, even something really basic and simple, so he wouldn't feel like a freeloader.

What form will your character's NV take? It will be a somewhat larger version of Earth's four-star dragonball, flipping open at the middle. The top half will house the screen while the bottom has the controls and full keyboard for text messages.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: First would be superhuman speed and strength. Most normal people would be unable to track his movements, and he has to consciously moderate his strength to make sure he doesn't accidentally break whatever he touches. Going hand-in-hand with this, he's also highly trained in unarmed combat despite his young age. Natural toughness comes along with this, as well. He's very difficult to injure, being bulletproof and able to sustain heavy impacts with few to no visible effects.

Next would be the ability to fly. This is not a physical ability, but a manipulation of his ki. His ability is so basic and well-trained that he's able to do it without any conscious thought.

Ki (energy) manipulation is the basic staple of most of his abilities. Besides allowing him the ability to fly, he can form it into various patterns for attack or defense. Though ki can be exhausted, he has quite a large amount of it, and thus it takes a lot of effort for him to grow tired.

Finally, there is the Super Saiyan transformation. Beyond the physical effect of lightening his hair to blond and his eyes to teal, this drastically augments all of his other powers. He's stronger, faster, even more difficult to hurt, and possesses even deeper ki reserves.

Also, as a half-Saiyan, his power increases anytime he recovers from serious injury. This isn't all that likely in Siren's Port, given that he's so difficult to hurt, so it probably won't be an issue.

Weapons: Ffft. None. He really doesn't need them.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Here
Point in Canon: Episode 169 (Between Gohan and Goku exiting the Room of Spirit and Time, and the Cell Games)

Character Personality: Gohan is a very polite and soft-spoken little boy. He's been raised to have proper manners and takes pains to observe them as much as he possibly can. The thought of offending someone bothers him greatly. He's rather quiet, owing to a desire to avoid saying the wrong thing.

Though very shy, Gohan is quite friendly and always happy to be able to make a new friend. Most of his time has been spent around adults, though; he has difficulty relating to other kids on their level, as much as he wants to.

While he's intelligent and powerful, Gohan has severe self-confidence issues. He never feels as though he's good enough to do what needs to be done and guilts himself over it. Something went wrong? Well, it must have been his fault, then. That's surely the only explanation. At the core, he's a little boy who needs reassurance from his loved ones. He doesn't feel adequate without that reassurance.

But when he's not doubting his power, Gohan is actively fearing it. The idea that he could lose control and harm those he cares for absolutely terrifies him. For this reason, he tends to keep a subconscious leash on his power . . . just in case. Most of the time, he's unaware that he's even doing this; it's pure instinct on his part. He doesn't want to hurt anyone.

Yes, Gohan is a pacifist by nature. It was only necessity that forced him to learn how to fight, and in spite of his natural talent, he only does so when he absolutely has to. His first instinct is to try and diffuse a situation with words. If it's only himself at stake, he'll usually back down in order to avoid making trouble, no matter if he could easily overwhelm the situation with force. But if someone he cares for, or an innocent person is at risk, he'll do everything he can to protect them.

Like many children, Gohan does not mask his emotions often. If he's happy, or depressed, or thoughtful, or frightened, or angry . . . If he's feeling anything at all, it will be obvious. In that same vein, he's a dreadful liar; his hesitance and discomfort at such a thing are easy to see. It isn't that his thinks dishonesty is always a bad thing; he recognizes that sometimes it's better for all concerned to lie about certain things. But there's that nagging bit in the back of his mind that says it's bad manners. And he does so hesitate to be ill-mannered. He can attach himself very strongly to people, and is surpassingly loyal to anyone who earns this attachment.

Gohan is extremely booksmart and tactically proficient. Sadly, however, he has a tendency to be naïve as well. He's not completely trusting, but can be prone to manipulation, particularly of the sort that pokes at his insecurities. He's also kind of a boyscout, always wanting to help out anyone in distress - another quality that could potentially be exploited by the right (or wrong) person.

Character Plans: Gohan would want to live his life as peacefully as possible, but once he gets wise to the companies, and the Darkness monsters, his desire to protect the innocent would kick in and he'd try to do what he could to help. I'd also like to see him develop a bit more self-assurance.

Sorry to bother you all, but . . . uh . . . [He bashfully rubs at the back of his neck and laughs a bit nervously.] Well, I guess I might have already bothered some people before this, huh? Anyway.

I just wanted to apologize for that little disturbance last night. I guess I could have handled things in a bit more of a contained way; I just kind of got startled, so . . . I wasn't really thinking clearly. I'm sorry.

[He clears his throat uncomfortably.] Um, I don't think I destroyed anything, at least. But if I caused any damage, I'll help fix it. I didn't really mean to . . . Well. You know. [His gaze darts about awkwardly.] So . . . Yeah. Sorry again.

Third Person Sample

Gohan was seriously considering powering down right now.

It had been his dad's idea to stay in Super Saiyan form in order to accustom their bodies to the power. And it was a good idea, one that made a lot of sense; Gohan would never dispute that. A few broken things around the house had upset his mother, but at least that was their own stuff. Here, though . . .

He really hadn't meant to crush that toaster. Lucky for him, the store owner was a forgiving sort of guy who just blinked in surprise at him before somewhat nervously patting him on the head and sending him on his way. It could have been worse. He could have gotten yelled at.

So Gohan kept his hands firmly shoved in his pockets as he walked down the street. If he could avoid touching anything else right now, he would. He didn't want anybody else to get angry with him for a little slip of control.

He could have just flown back to his apartment, but there were too many people around here for him to just take off into the sky. While he'd been here long enough to notice that the citizens were generally used to people with powers, a lot of them didn't treat those people all that well. So he tried to be normal as he could manage. Who knew it would be so difficult?

His eyes scanned his surroundings. Wait . . . what street was this? And which direction was he supposed to . . . Wow, this was confusing. How did anyone manage in these places? He'd never understood it. Orienting himself in flight was a lot easier than this.

Gohan's mind registered a tiny impact in front of him, and he stopped. Finally turning his attention forward, he ducked his head in embarrassment when he realized he hadn't been watching where he was going and had run into someone hard enough to knock them down.

"Oh. Excuse me. I'm sorry, sir. Here." He offered a hand down to help the man up. It was the least he could do because of his mistake.

The man slapped his hand away - or tried to, at least. Instead, he hissed in pain and rubbed at his reddened palm. "Get the hell away from me, you little freak. Goddamn it, what the hell are you even made of?"

Gohan blinked at the nasty attitude. He'd apologized and offered his help. Why was the man so angry? "Sir, I'm sorry, but I don't -"

"Just get lost. Newcomer trash. Don't ever come near me again."

He looked away in discomfort. That was it, huh? Yeah, he really didn't want to be in this situation anymore. So he took the quickest way out.

After an apologetic glance at the man, Gohan leaped into the sky and flew home instead.
