he was a theorist wrote a lot about power and punishment and sex blah blah....you're ever the lucky one not to know :)

so one of them, the more interesting one, is in his "History of Sexuality." The idea is that sexual repression and sexual taboos are created not because people don't speak of them enough, but because people speak of them too much. He writes that we create a number of "discourses" around sex and sexuality, It's the discourse that determines what's normal and what's not, what's outside the discourse is what's not acceptable anymore. He writes a lot about the evolution of power and stuff also.
