I really wonder why scripters/coders often tend to be flaky. In dozens of times dealing with them in business, I'd venture to guess that more than half of them have had a tendency to miss deadlines, stop work, get bored, give up, and otherwise make a project cycle hell.

If you're talking about Second Life scripting, then I'm not surprised. Few people take SL seriously; I know I don't. :)

yep its most acute there. even when its paid work. seen it other places too though

Coders are the new construction workers. Just like old construction workers, they need direct supervision.

Mostly the young ones right outa school. The ones who've been in the working world are all much better. I worked with a lot of really good senior coders on my last tour, and they were all top notch.

Sorta like the open source movement as a whole. Lots of starts, few finishes. :-)
