I'm starting to hear people speak pretty openly about seceding from the US. First time I've ever heard this locally. Not really sure what to think there.

I'm sure folks in texas and especially arizona are really talking about this a lot lately too.

It's so bad that they're talking about fracturing a state from the entire country? Has the last 18 months taken away life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the day to day life of these people?

You do realize that it is more than just the last 18 months, right? This has been building for a while, on both sides. Moreover, you are trying to imply that Obama has only effected this country 18 months worth of time. While it is true that he has only been elected 18 months, the ramifications of the things he has done and the things he is planning to do will last far longer than just 18 months.
